An Introduction to photographer Oscar Marzaroli (Showcase and Drinks Reception)

An introduction to Oscar Marzaroli
Our main focal point for the evening will be ‘An introduction to Oscar Marzaroli’. The complete works of Marzaroli has been donated to Glasgow Caledonian University’s Archive Centre. With over 50,000 negatives, some which have never been seen before, work is now underway to raise the funds needed to catalogue, digitise, and make available to all around the world this stunning and important Collection.
Join us on April 6th when University Archivist, Carole McCallum, will share an insight into this exceptional Collection, which documented Scotland, and its inhabitants during the 1950s-80s, a time of great social change when city slums were being cleared to make way for new social housing. Marzaroli’s iconic images captured people going about their lives, at work and at leisure, with many of the stunning black and white images depicting children playing in the streets, and capturing the city of Glasgow in bygone days.
GCU’s Archive Centre, in collaboration with Street Level Photoworks, have put together a showcase of Marzaroli’s stunning works, giving a snapshot of what is to come from the Collection once the extensive digitisation project is complete.
The showcase photographs will be available to purchase for a limited time, with all proceeds going to the Marzaroli Fund. For more information on the prints available and how to purchase please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
