How to Contract for Human Rights in the Supply Chain

WHEN: Thursday, June 10th at 12PM EDT

WHAT: GCNYC’s Center for Social Impact & Innovation hosts: How to Contract for Human Rights in the Supply Chain. This dialogue features perspectives from the legal academy, legal practice, and a fashion brand speaking to how companies can and should deploy contracting strategies to promote human rights in their supply chains.

In April, the American Bar Association released thirty-three model clauses  based on the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct to proactively address the human rights performance of global supply chains. Professor Kish Parella will reference her forthcoming article, Contractual Stakeholderism, that argues corporations should prioritize the avoidance of stakeholder harms. Virginia Newman represents corporate clients with multinational supply chains as part of her firm’s business and human rights practice group.
