Resume Face Lift Collaborative Working Session

Get ready for a resume refresh! By far the most common career services request, keeping your resume fresh and updated is an important skill for career success. Equally important is a robust peer network available for feedback, opportunities, and support for you and your career. This interactive, collaborative working session is focused on aligning your resume to your career goals and best practices to best position you for the role you want through small group feedback break out rooms and understanding of best practices for the market today. Participants will leave the session with actionable feedback from multiple sources to improve their resume and new collaborators to seek feedback from in the future.

Linkedin is far and away the most used career platform available today. Itโ€™s the source of job postings, and a powerful tool for self promotion, networking, and communication. It is important to know how to effectively engage with Linkedin whether you are seeking a job or just hoping to share a recent professional accomplishment. This session combines knowledge sharing through lectures and an interactive, collaborative working session focused on best showcasing yourself through your Linkedin profile. Participants will leave the session with actionable feedback to improve their Linkedin profile, new collaborators to seek feedback from in the future, and a better understanding of the ways to use and leverage Linkedin to your career advantage.

It can seem like the job hunt has become a full contact sport. So many of the rules of the game have changed over the last decade and continue to change due to geopolitical, technological, and societal factors. While it is important to hone a range of skills for the modern job search, networking is of paramount importance and is often most neglected by job seekers. And networking itself has expanded; well positioned job seekers need to know how to network in person and online via a range of platforms and tools, using any opportunity to build a sustainable network. This session combines knowledge sharing through lectures, Q&A, and an interactive, collaborative practice session focused on effective networking. Participants will leave the session with actionable tools to confidently engage in networking activities, new or more sturdy network connections with GCNYC peers, and a better understanding of the ways to manage networking considerations consistently.ย
